If you’ve ever been concerned about the unhealthy ingredients found in traditional dog food, it’s time to consider giving your furry companion a taste of nature’s purest nutrition.

Wild Earth dog food offers a truly wild experience that reconnects your pets with their instincts and provides them with the highest quality natural nutrition.

A few weeks ago, I decided to introduce my dog, Walter, to Wild Earth’s Complete Protein dog food, which was his first experience with plant-based dog food.

The results were unexpectedly impressive, so when the brand launched an upgraded version called Performance Formula, I knew Walter had to try it.

After carefully comparing the new formula with the previous one, I made some exciting discoveries.

Taste Test for Performance Formula: Walter's Approval

To my surprise, Walter showed great enthusiasm for his new food.

While it took him a while to adapt to the Complete Protein dog food due to its slightly yeasty smell, the Performance Formula had him hooked from the first sniff.

I even found myself tempted to smell a few kibbles—yes, pet parents can be a little strange that way!

Walter eagerly licked his bowl clean, which was a pleasant surprise since he is typically a picky eater.

It seems he prefers the Veggie Chick’n Kabob flavor over the meaty one.

Impressive Ingredients

The Performance Formula didn’t disappoint when it came to its ingredients.

Although the crude protein content is slightly lower than the previous formula, at 28% compared to 31%, it still meets the dietary requirements for dogs set by AAFCO.

The new formula remains almost identical to the Complete Protein dog food, ensuring your dog receives optimal nutrition.

Sustainability and Health

What sets Wild Earth apart is its commitment to sustainable production methods and using plant-based ingredients.

By choosing Performance Formula, not only are you providing your dog with a pure and natural diet, but you’re also making a green choice that supports the environment.

Rich in prebiotics and probiotics, the Performance Formula contributes to the digestion and gut health of dogs.

This additional benefit ensures a win-win situation for both you and your furry friend.

Eye-Catching and Eco-Friendly Packaging

In addition to its nutritional benefits, Wild Earth’s packaging leaves a lasting impression.

The brand has moved away from plain and outdated designs and embraced vibrant colors that catch the eye.

If you’re browsing through pet products at a store, the Performance Formula and Core Formula are sure to stand out.

What’s more, in line with the brand’s ethos, the packaging is also recyclable.

Wild Earth not only offers vegetarian dog food but also strives to help pet owners make conscious choices for their pets.

A Step Above: Performance Formula vs. Complete Protein

Before choosing any new dog food for Walter, I meticulously examine the ingredient list.

The Performance Formula impressed me with its better and more nutritious ingredients compared to the Complete Protein dog food.

Taste Transformation

While the Complete Protein dog food has a meaty flavor that appeals to humans, dogs like Walter aren’t particularly fond of it.

Initially, Walter was hesitant to finish his meals, but he gradually adjusted and started liking it.

On the other hand, the Veggie Chick’n Kabob flavor in the Performance Formula instantly won Walter’s heart.

He devoured his meals with the same enthusiasm he shows for “chicken skewer” treats.

If you’re concerned about your dog not enjoying vegetarian food, the Performance Formula is an excellent choice.

Grain Supplement Enhancement

One concern I had with the Complete Protein dog food was the inclusion of wheat germ.

Wheat germ is a legume and one of the top allergens for dogs, potentially causing gluten allergies and related health issues, such as bloating and sudden weight gain.

Fortunately, the Performance Formula replaced wheat germ with healthier alternatives like sorghum, millet, and barley.

This wise decision brings relief to concerned pet parents like me.

Protein Source Selection

In the Performance Formula, dried yeast is the primary protein source, complemented by potato protein.

Surprisingly, pea protein, a significant component of the Complete Protein dog food formula, is absent in this formula.

This exclusion might be due to recent research linking pea protein to dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) in dogs.

To mitigate any potential risks, the brand opted not to include pea protein.

While I never associated potatoes with high-quality protein, I discovered that potato protein is a concentrated source of crude protein.

It contains essential amino acids, including lysine, which contributes to a dog’s overall health.

Additionally, potato protein is free from animal ingredients, making it a boon for vegetarians.

Promoting Digestive Health

The Performance Formula includes lactobacillus and prebiotics (inulin) to support digestion and gut health.

This is a common addition in vegetarian dog food, and it’s a positive change that can help dogs like Walter with occasional gastrointestinal issues.

An Upgrade Worth Considering

In my opinion, Wild Earth’s Performance Formula is a clear improvement.

It offers a more appealing taste, better ingredient choices, and superior grain substitutes for dogs like Walter.

Moreover, the Performance Formula maintains a similar price point to the Complete Protein dog food.

If you’re looking for a plant-based dog food, I highly recommend trying Wild Earth’s Performance Formula.

Before making a purchase, ensure your dog doesn’t have any allergies or adverse reactions to plant-based ingredients.

Consult with a veterinarian to confirm that the chosen dog food is suitable for your furry friend.

I hope this review helps you in selecting the best for your beloved companion, and I wish you and your furry friend many delightful moments together!
